Who would have thought over fifteen years ago when I brought home a “build your own” bird feeder, assembled it, put it out and saw my first Chickadee, that a store would be born!? I am Debi Klein co-owner with my husband Mike Klein of The Backyard Naturalist in Olney, Maryland. Opened in 1989, The Backyard Naturalist is the area’s premier independent bird feeding supply and nature book and gift shop.

It is our aim to provide quality products and knowledgeable service to customers of all ages and experience levels. Our love for what we do is evident throughout the shop. You’ll love our thoughtful and friendly approach to retail. Our staff is always attentive and willing to do what we can to meet your needs.

We recently returned from a long awaited vacation to Jamaica this past January. We had such a wonderful times and look forward to more adventures.
